Cosmo Vision

Why do I need the Cosmo Connected app to use Cosmo Vision?
The glasses work thanks to the Cosmo Connected application: The application allows to set the parameters of the glasses (luminosity, position of the screen, activation or not of the gesture sensor), as well as to set the data and screens to display. During a journey, it is the application that sends the data to be displayed in the glasses through a Bluetooth connection.

Do or can glasses incorporate vision correction?
On this first version, only one type of lenses is proposed, without visual correction.

Is it possible to wear glasses under or over the Cosmo Vision?
Cette première version ne permet pas de porter les Cosmo Vision par-dessus des lunettes correctives.
Plusieurs pistes sont à l'étude pour une V2 afin de permettre à tous de les utiliser.

I need visual correction, can I use Cosmo Vision?
On this first version, only one type of lenses is proposed, without visual correction and it is not possible to wear Cosmo Vision in addition to corrective glasses.
Depending on your level of ophthalmic correction, the image will be more or less visible, but certain corrections such as astigmatism and myopia can only be compensated by wearing corrective contact lenses.
Our teams are working on a solution to personalize glasses according to a prescription.

Can several people in the same family, for example, use the same pair of glasses?
The information is personalized via the mobile app, so everyone can choose on their app what information to display when they use the glasses!

How to pair the glasses with the application?

To connect your glasses to the Cosmo Connected application

Turn on the glasses by placing your finger on the center of the glasses (just above your nose). Press and hold to turn them on. When you see the "ActiveLook" image, they are on.
Launch the application.
To pair your glasses, you will need to:
- activate Bluetooth on your phone
- activate the geolocation
- to have an internet access

Let us guide you, or go to the "My Cosmo" menu and then to the "Cosmo Vision" tab.
Click on "Add a device" to launch a Bluetooth scan on the available devices.
Your glasses should be automatically detected by the application.

How to use the gesture sensor?

Cosmo Vision glasses are equipped with a gesture sensor. This sensor is positioned behind the glass of your left eye. To activate it, you just have to pass your hand near this sensor (between 3 and ~ 10cm approximately). Try it out to become familiar with its sensitivity, and don't move your hand too quickly in front of it.

To enable or disable the gesture sensor, check or uncheck the option "enable gesture sensor" in the "Configuration" tab of your Cosmo Vision (available in the "My Cosmo" menu). This option is only available when your glasses are connected to the application.
Once you have started your journey, this gesture will allow you to navigate through the different data screens you have selected.
When you reach the last data screen, the next gesture detected by the sensor will bring back the first screen you selected.

How to adjust the brightness of the image?
Two options for adjusting the brightness are available: manual or automatic.
For an automatic adjustment, according to the ambient light, activate the option "Automatic" in the tab "Configuration" of your Cosmo Vision (available in the menu "My Cosmo"). This option is only available when your glasses are connected to the application.
For manual brightness adjustment, adjust the brightness slider. The "Automatic Brightness" button must be disabled.

How to adjust the position of the image?

The application allows you to finely adjust the position of the image in your field of vision.
However, before using this function, it is imperative to first perform a "physical" adjustment of your glasses by adjusting the nose bridge, the arms and the angle of your glasses.

1st step:
Start by adjusting the nose pads to raise or lower the optical system in relation to your eye.
Stand in front of a mirror: the pupil of your right eye should be on the same horizontal plane as the lens visible on the surface of the microprojector. Use the nose pad adjustment to achieve this.

Step 2:
In the second step, adjust the temples of your glasses by rotating them. Adjust the tilt of the front of the glasses so that you can see the full image.

Step 3:
Adjust the temples to hold your glasses in the position you prefer. The tips of the temples are bendable in both directions (up/down, left/right) and allow you to find the perfect fit.

Finally, the position of the image can be finely adjusted thanks to the ""Position"" setting in the ""Configuration"" tab of your Cosmo Vision (available in the ""My Cosmo"" menu). This option is only accessible when your glasses are connected to the application.

How can I customize my display screens by choosing the projected data for the Cosmo Vision connected glasses?
You have the possibility to configure the data displayed in your glasses in the "Personalization" menu of your Cosmo Vision (accessible from the "My Cosmo" menu).
You will be able to choose :
- Your main data: i.e. the one that will remain visible on the first line of your display
- Your secondary data and their order of appearance: this is the data that you will be able to scroll on the second line of the display.
During a trip with an itinerary, your primary data will automatically be modified to display your navigation instructions.
When you are using a Cosmo connected light, you will also find on the screen a feedback on the status of your lights.

Were the glasses entirely created in France?
The technology was developed by the French start-up Microoled, and the design was made with a French designer based in Lyon.

Do I need to clean the Cosmo Vision connected glasses projector regularly?
No. We recommend that you intervene as little as possible on the projector/optical module. It should only be cleaned in case of heavy soiling or degrading image quality (e.g. abnormal blurring).

How to clean the projector of the Cosmo Vision glasses?

Please follow the recommendations in the cleaning manual.

In order to avoid any risk of scratching, it is necessary to blow away any dust and sand particles that may be present on the mirror and the lens before any other operation. This can be done using a dusting gas, for example.

You can then wash these surfaces with a cotton swab (provided in the cleaning kit with the glasses) soaked in slightly soapy water. Do not rinse the glasses under running water or immerse them in water. Use the cleaning kit provided to clean the projector of the glasses. Use a tapping motion to reduce the risk of scratching.

How do I clean the frame and electronics covers of Cosmo Vision glasses?

The frame and temples can be cleaned using liquid soap, disinfectant or cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Any acetone-based degreaser is not recommended.

It is also forbidden to immerse the glasses in any liquid, as their protection is not designed for this purpose (IP54). The IP54 certification level guarantees resistance to water splashes in all directions, i.e. very punctual and brief contacts. This protection is not sufficient to withstand a flow of liquid or total immersion in a volume of water.

The protective covers of the various components of the ActiveLook system are potential areas for the accumulation of dirt due to the material used and the complex shapes.

These surfaces can be cleaned with bezel cleaners, dusting spray and the cleaning kit supplied. As before, the glasses should not be immersed or rinsed directly under a tap.

How to clean the lenses of Cosmo Vision connected glasses?

If there is no smudging, it is recommended to avoid cleaning the lenses.

The lenses of Cosmo Vision glasses have different treatments between their internal and external face. These coatings are necessary for the optical quality of the image projected in the glasses. It is therefore crucial not to damage them when cleaning the glasses.

External face

For this part, the two important points to clean are mainly :

the part of the left glass behind which is located the sensor of movement and ambient luminosity;
If impurities or scratches remain in this area, they are likely to disrupt the proper functioning of these sensors.

The area of the frame at the level of the touch sensor has a groove, the use of dusting gas at this place is recommended for a deeper cleaning.

Inner side

The inside of the glasses can be wiped with a standard eyewear cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth after blowing with a dusting gas. Particular attention is advised for the right lens, this one being one of the key elements of the functioning of Cosmo Vision connected glasses. The projection area, which is difficult to access, must nevertheless be cleaned if it is dirty.

The treatments applied to the lenses are compatible with soap-based solutions. Again, it is not recommended to rinse the lenses under water. To remove excess applied products if needed, only a wet wipe is recommended.

Are there different models (male/female) or is it a standard model?
Only one unisex version is available on this first model, which adapts to all morphologies thanks to the adjustable nose pads and the adjustable temples

How does the glasses work?
The glasses are connected to an application via Bluetooth, which sends it the data to be displayed. A micro-projector displays the data on the right lens.
The data remains visible with optimal readability in all configurations thanks to photochromic lenses that adjust to the ambient light and a brightness sensor integrated into the frame. The technology allows a non-obstructive projection that never alters the field of vision.
The glasses are recharged through the micro-USB port located on the nose, and they offer a 12-hour battery life.

Where is the data displayed?
The data is projected on the right glass.

What is the ActiveLook technology embedded in the Cosmo Vision glasses?
The ActiveLook "See-through" technology has been developed by the Grenoble-based startup Microoled.
This technology (electronics, firmware, lenses, optics and an application-specific OLED micro display) provides a high brightness head-up display solution for eyewear with an unprecedented combination of low weight, compactness and low power consumption.

How are Cosmo Vision connected glasses different from a bike computer or a connected watch?
The glasses provide you with information at a glance, without having to take your eyes off the road, in an intuitive and immediate way. They are a display but do not generate any information or notifications that could distract you.

What is the resolution of the display screen of the Cosmo Vision connected glasses?
The resolution of the display in the glasses is 244 x 206 pixels.

Is the Cosmo Vision connected glasses display a color screen?
No, it's a monochrome OLED display, designed to minimize power consumption.

What is the Bluetooth performance range of Cosmo Vision connected glasses?
The maximum distance of most Bluetooth devices is 10 meters, the optimal distance for any Bluetooth device is about 60 centimeters from the connected Bluetooth device (Smartphone, Smartwatch, ...).

Can the battery of the Cosmo Vision connected glasses be changed or replaced?
No, the battery cannot be removed or replaced. A return to the service department is necessary.

Can the glasses be used elsewhere than on a bicycle?
The Cosmo Vision were designed and conceived for cycling as a priority, both in terms of design and application, but they can be used for other sports or leisure activities.

What information can I display in the glasses?
You have the option to display :
- your navigation instructions during a ride (left - right GPS guidance)
- the distance covered or remaining
- elapsed or remaining time
- your current or average speed
- the return of Cosmo Ride lights (turn signals, hazard lights, position lights)
We will add to the list of available data as we go along.

How to avoid fogging in Cosmo Vision glasses?
The design of the glasses was thought to avoid the formation of fog, in particular thanks to the ventilation between the glass and the frame which makes it possible to make circulate the air with the maximum particularly at the time of the sporting exits.

Can Cosmo Vision be used in all weather conditions? (sunny, rainy, day/night)
The glasses have been certified IP54, so they are resistant to rain and dust to remain usable in the conditions of use of cyclists and bikers.
They are equipped with photochromic lenses Category 1 - 3 that allow them to be worn day and night.
A brightness sensor is also built in, to maintain optimal data display on the lens.

Some data are not displayed, why?

There are several reasons why one or more pieces of data may not be displayed in the glasses:

Make sure your glasses are turned on and connected to the app, see the section on connecting the glasses.

Once connected / turned on, the display of the glasses may go into a pause mode, where the display does not show any trip data. To view trip data (re-)start a trip from the application:
Press 'GO' to start a trip session and initiate the calculation and display of data.

During the initial data integration phase (capturing the GPS signal, stabilizing the data evaluated by the application), some data may not be displayed. After about 30 seconds, all available data will be displayed.

How to turn on Cosmo Vision ?
Press for 3 seconds on the touch button located on the central part of the glasses (between the two glasses, above the nose) to turn on the glasses.
They will then be detectable and connectable for the bluetooth connection to your mobile application.

Similarly, a long press on the touch button of the glasses will turn them off.

If they do not respond to these operations, perform a reset as described in the corresponding article.

What is the battery life of the Cosmo Vision?
In normal use, the autonomy is 12 hours. The module can be completely recharged in about 3 hours. The battery is integrated in the Activelook module.
It is possible to increase the battery life considerably by deactivating the gesture sensor.

The display of my glasses are blocked, how to restart them?

To solve this problem, you will need :
- Your glasses
- Your USB cable
- A device to power the USB cable (computer, adapter, etc.)

If your glasses are stuck and don't seem to respond or charge, if the green LED inside the glasses on the module above the nose blinks continuously, try plugging and unplugging your glasses several times until the LED stays on when the glasses are plugged in.

The gesture sensor is not working properly, what should I do?

If the gesture sensor is no longer working, it's probably because it has been disabled.

After connecting your glasses to the Cosmo Connected application, check to see if the gesture sensor is enabled in the "Configuration" tab of your Cosmo Vision (available in the "My Cosmo" menu). This option is only available when your glasses are connected to the application. If it is disabled, enable it.

If the problem is still there, try turning off your glasses, then turning them back on and see if the problem is resolved.

If the problem persists, please contact Cosmo Connected customer service (support@cosmoconnected.com).

My glasses are not detected by my phone

Are the glasses on?
The very first thing to check when trying to connect your glasses to your smartphone is that your glasses are on and that the battery in your glasses is charged enough to stay on. If your glasses turn off by themselves after a few seconds or if they don't turn on at all, try plugging them in for a while before trying again.

Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone
When you launch the Cosmo Connected app on your smartphone, a message should appear if your Bluetooth is disabled on your phone. Make sure you have Bluetooth connections enabled before trying to pair your glasses with your phone.

Your glasses don't automatically connect to your smartphone
Most of the time, if this is not the first time you connect your glasses to the Activelook app on your smartphone, your glasses should automatically connect to your phone.

If not, you will need to search for your glasses to connect them to your smartphone.
Once you have verified that they are turned on, open your Cosmo Connected app. If the glasses are not automatically recognized and connected by the application, re-connect your Cosmo Vision using either :
- the "Status of my Cosmo" menu located at the bottom right of the main screen (with the map)
- the ""Details"" tab of your Cosmo Vision (accessible from ""My Cosmo"")

Your glasses should then be recognized.

If you can't find your glasses after turning them on, try turning them off and on again. Also try shutting down the application on your phone, then restarting it. Follow each of the above steps again and see if it works.

If the problem persists, please contact Cosmo Connected Customer Service (support@cosmoconnected.com).

The automatic brightness does not work properly, what should I do?

Automatic brightness allows you to enjoy an adaptive display when using your Cosmo Vision glasses. The sensor at the top of the left lens of your glasses takes into account the light around you to regulate the lighting of the display. You can turn this feature on or off in your Cosmo Connected app.

If you feel that the auto-brightness is behaving abnormally (screen flickering, no change in brightness when activated...) you can try turning it off and on in the "Configuration" tab of your Cosmo Vision (accessible from the "My Cosmo" menu). Also try to turn off and on your glasses. If the problem persists, try closing the Cosmo Connected application and opening it again, then repeat the above steps.

If the problem persists, please contact Cosmo Connected Customer Service (support@cosmoconnected.com).
